A new Ibadan Journal of Sociology Issue & Other News

We are pleased to bring you another issue of the Ibadan Journal of Sociology, one of the first journals to be onboarded onto the African Journals Initiative (AJI)  in 2025. The journal editor, Ọláyínká Àkànle. Ph.D., reflected on the AJI’s impact on their journal–affirming its existence.

“For us at Ibadan Journal of Sociology, partnering with AJI has given the journal access to international indexing and discoverability. AJI has helped us meet international publishing standards while keeping the journal rooted in African scholarship. The partnership is a classical example of a partnership that works and that is very beneficial”.

Volume 17, Issue 1 of the Ibadan Journal of Sociology features articles on climate change perception, barriers to health care access, occupation hazard awareness, social perceptions of low-birth weight outcomes and corruption and moral order.

We draw your attention to David Olom Nkpe’s article, Corruption and moral order: ambivalence in faith-based institutions and Nigeria’s ethical governance. The paper critically examines Nigeria’s contradiction as a highly religious country, which still ranks as one of the most corrupt and how this influences the ethics of the people.
