Leanid Kazyrytski examines the official speeches of the Russian president on the war in Ukraine in “Discourse as a Strategy of Justification: Techniques of Neutralization in the Russian Presidential Account of the War in Ukraine”. He reveals that in this institutional context, these techniques function predominantly as anticipatory justificatory frameworks that normalise violence before it occurs, rather than as mere post-hoc rationalisations. In “Transparency for Whom? A Critical Examination of Beneficial Ownership Registries”, Steven Bittle and Laureen Snider argue that BORs represent an attempt to strengthen global capitalist systems by presenting corporations as legitimate, transparent entities whose excesses can be addressed through regulation by capitalist democratic states.
